A good resource for choosing a wiki…

Appropriately enough, Wikipedia has a page that includes a comparison chart for various wiki "farms"–from those that are paid services to those that are free (usually ad-supported).  This is probably the easiest option for a first crack at using a wiki for a course insofar as it requires no institutional support at all.  Check out this page for more information.

  1. Thanks for the list, Ryan. It’s good to have a comparison chart all in one place. I don’t think I’d be able to pick one over the other without a specific project in mind. But it does go to support my comment to Greg’s recent post (the variety of stupid names out there–SnoutHold Cospire? Schtuff? StikiPad? These names alone make me less apt to consider them.
